Implementing Remote learning during COVID-19 Lock-Down Period

Remote Learning or e-Learning mode of teaching has become the only way for teachers and students for the progress of teaching-learning process amid the lockdown period due to Global Health Emergency in the form of COVID-19. In fact, Remote Learning is also the path for professional development for the Educators around the World. But there are many implications involved while implementation of this mode. Following points are to be given due importance before initiating Online education, so as to encourage educators and learners to work together as an active learning community, for productive outcome.

1.    Ensure active engagement of learners Online: As an Online Educator, One need to be engaging and supporting students right from the start and for the entire duration of the e-transactions, to maintain an effective learning.
2.   Creation of a Supportive Learning Environment: To ensure creation of  a supportive online learning environment, both teacher to student as well as student to student interactions must be encouraged.
3. Creation of Interactive Groups: Subject wise/ Class wise, small groups be created to ensure supportive mentoring & Monitoring of learners. Personal introduction should be posted by the teacher along with the purpose and aim of creating the group. Students should also be given chance to introduce themselves along with their expectations from the course, for a two way interaction.
4.   Attendance System: To ensure response of the learners, a system must be devised in which students can enter into participation with an unique ID. e.g. students be given assignments/quizzes for which he has to enter his email ID or name before responding to it and thereby teacher can come to know that the student has participated and responded in the class.
5.   Open forum for Discussion: Students must be encouraged to post their queries, if any, on the topic covered and the same may be attended in due time. A real time query response mechanism may also be devised by educators.
6.   To provide Feedback: A provision for feedback at regular interval must be made to ensure motivation among students.
Algorithm for implementing Remote learning:
1.  Educator may form an online Group of students of his class/subject on Social Media or any other easy to access platform.
2. Educator may inform to the students about the layout/split-up of syllabus to be covered. In fact the learning outcomes must be clear beforehand.
3.  Educator may select the topic to be taught keeping in view the simplicity of the topic so that the students do not need any extra gadgets like Computers/Laptops to access the resource material rather they may be able to access the same on through smart phone available in their homes.
4. Educator may create easy to understand e-Content/Presentation referring Syllabus, Text Book or relevant study material, instead of supplying ready made material available on Internet. So, as to create a Learner centered environment, the following vital parameters may be kept mind while developing the e-Content: 
a.   Usage of Limited no of words per slide
b.   Usage of relevant Diagrams/Images
c.   Highlight the important keywords
d.   Recapitulation of the topic

5. Educator may record his/her Video Tutorial by Screen Casting Presentation or record his own video lecture explaining each and every term in the topic comprehensively, using video recording tools like Screen Cast-O-matic, Screencastify, Loom etc. (The Video should not be more than 10-12 Mins duration to ensure active engagement of students). The same may be uploaded on any Online Platform like Youtube, FlipGrid, Google Drive, One Drive.
6.  For practicing critical thinking, problem solving & writing skills, Educator may prepare Assignment for students pertaining to the topic which they may solve and pen down on notebooks and share the snapshots with teacher on the Online Platform (Like Wakelet, Whatsapp). 
7. To confirm assimilation of the topic the Educator may create a QUIZ preferably MCQ type on the topic being taught using online tool like Google Forms, Microsoft Forms, Proprofs, Hot Potatoes or Kahoot etc. and it should be active only on submission of email ID/Name of the students, so that the teacher can confirm regular attendance and regular response of the students. 
8.   A weekly meeting on a video conferencing platform like MS Teams, Skype or Zoom, should be scheduled to organize Query session.

When Environmental Toxicology is the enigmatic flavor for students’ progression

Environmental Toxicology creates unavoidable pollutants in our rising society. Students are very scared about the same. They are not in a position to avert this from their present academic standing and that is why they are extremely confused right at this moment.

On the other hand both physical and biological environment are being continuously distorted in all the regards. So as a result it seems it is absolutely disturbing for a student at all. But at the same point of time it provides the extensive to the students to concentrate upon environmental toxicology and it helps students to do some outstanding research upon the same without any second thought.

In this regard students do need to minimize the toxic effect of their suitable environment just to make it very cozy for the educational enhancement in deed. That is why students so need the green environment and on the other hand they need to save both physical and biological environment and control the ecosystem in a befitting manner. Because this is to make a significant coordination between the vital role play of ecosystem and the toxic effect of environment. It is very appealing for the entire education industry to save environment since it is our real blessing right at this moment and students will be in a very safe zone to bring out the bridge between a safe environment and pollution free society respectively.

Therefore they need to focus the following:

1. Pollution: It is one of the risky factors that is why students need to deal with the same and probably my suggestion for the IT students to look after for a genuine software through which this pollution can be prevented.

2. Social Hygiene: Social people have to be really hygienic right from throwing plastics to clean their households right from the beginning otherwise even the basics will not be entertained by them. So students do need to initiate to social campaign as much as possible.

3. Environmental Counseling: Government needs to appoint an efficient counselor to look after the environment who has to supervise the every individual problem and he/she should be purely responsible to detect the problems and prevent for the best solutions accordingly.

4. Initiation of various online courses: These courses should be immediately initiated for engaging our desirous students at least to understand about this interesting subject and its multifarious effects without any fail.

5. Extensive Research: Some brilliant research scholars have to be involved over here to find out the unique solutions along with their great educational competencies.
  • So they need some authentic data
  • They have to frame the brilliant research focus where the best solution lies.
  • Researchers have to be very optimistic about their thought provoking research proceedings.
  • They have to present in an explicit manner just to make it really established for the mass.
  • They have to produce some outstanding preventive measures where our environmental style is truly alive and properly executed for the students to perform well for enlightening their high-end academic virtuoso at all.
So this is how our environmental toxicology is really blessed and students can be the exquisite resources for gearing up our righteous society.

UGC-CARE & It's Impact on Students | Need of Research Culture


        

In this video, UGC Care List & its impact on Students pursuing Master Degrees is discussed. Since, UGC released list of Journals, there is so much confusion and fear among students to publish their research work while pursuing Master Degree mainly M.Tech. Students are facing issues in selecting the Journal & it has become a challenge for them to get their paper published in reputed journals mentioned in UGC Care list within the time period of their course. They are looking for people who can publish their paper & paying the huge amount. 

So, the question arises - What will be the use of UGC Care List if it results into zero research work by students ? 

No Doubt - It will bring genuine Research Work done by the students but whether time frame is sufficient ? 

Generally, thesis work starts in 2nd year, when students look for various topics on which they have to work. First, they work on Synopsis in 3rd semester & actual work starts in 4th semester itself, which we generally say 6 months but it is 3-4 months only. Now we expect, in these 3 months, projects need to be completed along with documentation and then Publication too. Reputed Journals took atleast 3 months to review the paper & pass on reviewer's comments. Again the same question, whether students are having enough time to get the publication in Journal taking 3 months to review. 

Another question is whether students will be able to produce original research matchable to quality of Journals. Being such a huge gap - created much panic among students. 

Let's talk about Solution - which is totally my personal views. Students in their B.Tech Level work on project in last semester, few go to Industry exposure, still they have to work on Documentation Part. If we motivate them to work on atleast 1 Paper to make them understand terminologies (like Abstract, Keyword, Literature Review, References, Plagiarism, etc.) and various reputed Publishers which will save their time in M.Tech. Students who are clear that they are not going to pursue Higher Degree like M.Tech, they can work on their Communication Skills or any other area of Interest. 

In a nutshell, we have to incorporate the idea of Research in their Graduation Level to save their time in Higher Degree because already they have very very less time to get their Project Work Done.

Students need the mute concentration to cultivate their Academic Opulence

The term “Education” is having an unstoppable credence in all over the globe. Though various social collisions have distorted the present academic vigor just uninterruptedly. But it should be the actual circumstances in deed. Because present educational virtuoso is highly influential for each student right from their great initiation. That is why they have to follow the certain cautions.

a. Students should abide by their parents (Home Gurus) while studying.

b. They should be very inquisitive to know more for their successful future implementation at all.

c. They should adopt the natural potential to memorize information to implement.

d. They should be involved in various contests or competitions for their qualitative independence.

e. They should be very open-minded to store their surplus knowledge and to nurture the same at every two hours if possible.

f. On the other hand they must go through the “OXFORD THESAURUS” at random sampling method to enhance the exclusive quality of stock of words, concentration and memorization.

g. Student should concentrate upon oration as per their own regional language. As a result their skill of vocabulary and stance of presentation with pronunciation will be commendable.

Therefore my advice for them is

a. Please concentrate.

b. Do practice very frequently at least 3 times in a day.

c. Please come out with riveting ideas.

d. Please do perform and drag out your exceptional qualities.

Just verify that you are the best friend of the term CONCENTRATION.
